The rise of converged infrastructure is driving growth in the market for global back office system integration, which will reach a value of $225 billion by 2020, according to new research from Technavio. Microsoft released SQL server 2016 for general availability last Thursday, according to eweek. The software includes hybrid cloud capabilities, which let users stretch database workloads into Azure, Microsoft’s cloud computing platform.

A recent report published by Forrester indicates that IT service providers are relying more on software assets and IP when pitching hybrid cloud projects to clients. According to ITWire, “Forrester cautions that tech management organisations now require a more effective approach to managing in the hybrid world, where the relationship between components is not clearly established and few standards are available to guide their efforts.”

DevOps.com and CIO.com contributor and digital transformation strategist Philippe A. Abdoulaye has published a step-by-step guide for IT transformation on his LinkedIn page. He urges CIOs to think beyond the technology in their IT departments, unlock cost-savings that virtual computing and the cloud can offer and rethink the way IT collaborates with the business.
